Sport Pilot: Should become real sometime this year.
How to get onto the Yahoo Group: Blade has set up instructions at the AerodromeHQ Web Site. Here’s the link: http://www.aerodromehq.com/ Click “Membership” in the left frame, then look near the bottom of the page in the main frame. Thanks, Blade.
Golden West Fly-In: Harold Marchant gave a report on what went on at the Golden West. He ran into Tim Styles, Manager of the Sport Plane Center, LLC, a Rans dealer. Here’s Mr. Styles’ web site: http://www.sportplanecenter.com/
Instructor List: Vaughn McIlrath is updating our list of instructors and will turn it over to Blade for posting on the web site, as soon as Vaughn gets over the disruption of his move to a new residence.
Insurance for Ultralights: Rich Grialou reported on his efforts in researching the availability of insurance for ultralight aircraft. Rich has talked to a lot of people and been shunted from one ‘source’ to another with somewhat discouraging results. As Robert Smith noted, it’s a “You can’t get there from here situation.” Harold Marchant says “We need political clout.” Thanks, Rich. We’re all interested in any possible light on the situation.
Tech Talk: Deke gave another in-depth explanation of braking systems used in ultralight aircraft, all designed “to convert energy to heat.” My take is to brake lightly, taxi upwind, downwind in the grass if possible. UL brakes are LIGHT – used up easily. Thanks Deke.
